Much cooler than recently

Later in the week, renewed stormy conditions are possible, which may affect a much wider area of Britain. A risk of severe gales and heavy rainfall which brings a risk of flooding.

Thursday 19/10/17
Low pressure focused to the west and fronts passing northwards across Britain are likely to produce outbreaks of rain, some heavy bursts extending into Scotland. Meanwhile, another developing frontal system runs into the south-west and across Ireland, bringing heavy rain which becomes increasingly extensive across England & Wales later in the day. Southerly winds, may reach gale force later in the south. Highs 13 to 17C, warmest in south-east.

Friday 20/10/17
A batch of heavy rain and strong winds is likely to advance north into Scotland, and may produce prolonged rain for the eastern Highlands. A brief lull follows, with dry conditions for a few hours for central & southern Britain, some sunshine. Then another developing low moves in from the south-west. A risk of stormy conditions and heavy rain arriving later. Highs 10 to 16C.

Saturday 21/10/17
Confidence of detail is quite low. A risk of severe gales and heavy rain for much of Britain overnight and into Saturday as a deep low passes eastwards. Scotland and Northern Ireland may escape the worst of this, but blustery and showery conditions are likely to follow from the west. Highs 10 to 14C.

Sunday 22/10/17
Much uncertainty of detail, but low pressure is likely to remain in charge, bringing showers or some longer periods of rain, particularly to the west & south-west. Some brighter spells and sunshine, mainly in the east & north-east. Strong winds possible. Highs 10 to 15C.

Monday 23/10/17
Some improvement is possible for a time as pressure briefly builds. However, fronts returning from the west bring a risk of further rain developing. Fairly mild, but it may start cool. Highs 11 to 16C.

Tuesday 24/10/17
Southwesterly winds are expected, bringing frontal rain to the west & north-west. Drier toward the south & east. Fairly mild, 12 to 17C.
