Week ahead - October 02, 2017
Chilly & unsettled
Better weekend

Issued: 0900 Monday 2nd October 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cold and mixed middle part of the week, more settled this weekend

A mixed few days ahead with low pressure bringing wind and rain. It is going to be feeling cold in the middle of the week before pressure builds into the weekend. Becoming quieter with drier weather, although a fair amount of cloud into the early stages of next week and looking autumnal. Turning more unsettled into the middle of next week.

Thursday 5/10/17
Rain clears southern parts of England on Thursday morning, this bringing a wet start to the day for many. Following will be a cold northwesterly air flow. Showers affecting coasts of Scotland, western England, Wales and Ireland, with some heavy showers over eastern coasts in the afternoon. Elsewhere the showers will be more scattered with some sunny spells too. Highs at 11 to 15C.

Friday 6/10/17
Pressure is going to be higher through Friday. There may be some mist and murky around with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells in more eastern areas. Western parts could see a few spots of drizzle on hills and coasts as a weak front drifts across Ireland and into the west of the UK. Highs at 11 to 16C.

Saturday 7/10/17
A ridge of high pressure and a rather slack pressure flow over the UK and Ireland today. There will be a fair amount of cloud but some mist and murky too, especially in the west. Brighter and drier in more eastern areas after a murky start. Highs at 11 to 15C.

Sunday 8/9/17
The ridge of high pressure is likely to be maintained on Sunday. Fronts edge eastwards bringing plenty of cloud and some drizzle on western coasts and hills. A few brighter spells may develop in the east. Highs at 13 to 17C.

Monday 9/9/17
Pressure remains generally high through the UK and Ireland on Monday. This is going to be bringing more cloud and rather murky weather. Mist or fog patches slowly lifting to leave a dry day. The best of any brightness in the east. Tops near 13 to 18C.

Tuesday 10/9/17
A ridge extends from high pressure to the east. Again it is likely to be a rather quiet day with a fair amount of cloud, mist and some fog patches. A few bright spells developing with some sunshine here and there. Highs at 13 to 19C.
