Seasonal outlook - October 10, 2017
Mixed November
Cooler December

Issued: Tuesday 10th October 2017
Duty forecasters: Simon Keeling & Garry Nicholson

*November*
Starting unsettled with some heavy periods of rain and near average temperatures.
An improvement in conditions are temperatures is likely into the middle section of the month as higher pressure builds. Becoming milder in that higher pressure too.
The middle to later stages of November look set to become more unsettled with near average temperatures and outbreaks of rain.
Better conditions returning later in the month although probably with frost.

*December*
Current thoughts are that December is a month which has higher pressure to the west and lower pressure to the east.
A tendency towards a west to northwest flow bringing most unsettled weather into northern and western areas.
The south and west is likely to be drier, although even here there will be rain at times.
Colder snaps are likely as the northwest wind turns more northerly on certain days, with a tendency towards wintry precipitation especially in Scotland.
