Simon: It's a mess out there again this evening. bands of showers affecting many northern and western areas, some of these wintry and heavy on hills. Drier to the south and east but feeling cold.

Matt: Showers, wintry at times, continue to fed into parts of Scotland, NW England, Ireland, Wales and SW England, sleet and snow primarily on hills though. Many central and eastern areas of England often dry with some sunny spells. All areas remaining cold.

Simon: Need to watch for the risk of some fresh snowfall over Wales and the Midlands this evening. There won't be much but could lead to slippy roads and pavements, especially where there is already snow cover. Heavy snow showers in Northwest Scotland.

Simon: A milder start to today as bands of showery rain pass eastwards. However, cooler air is set to return to western areas together with heavy showers, some wintry.

Simon: Temperatures won't be as cold tonight as they were last night. A band of rain is bringing rather messy conditions as it passes east. yes, temperatures are rising as the rain arrives, but with freezing temperatures ahead of it some ice is likely. Turning drier across Ireland now and this drier weather will push east as the night progresses.

Simon: Rain is now crossing Ireland and heading to west Wales and the west UK this afternoon. As it comes up against freezing temperatures inland this evening it will turn to ice for a time before becoming rain again.

Simon: Overnight minimum temperatures widely fell to -10C over the snow fields last night. Shawbury in Shropshire has come in as coldest so far with a low of -12C.

Simon: Rain arriving in western Ireland now. Other parts of Ireland and the UK are mostly dry this morning with plenty of ice and bitterly cold temperatures to start the day.

Simon: Wintry showers on eastern coasts this evening and overnight as rain clears the southeast. Some showers on far western coasts too. For most the night will be very cold with a widespread frost and temperatures down as low as -10C.

Simon: Yesterdays snow has now cleared leaving ice as the main problem for many this morning. However, a new area of rain, sleet and snow (mostly on the hills) is affecting SE England and East Anglia through today. Further snow showers reaching northern and western Scotland with some wintry showers on eastern coasts of England too. Drry, bright and cold elsewhere.
