Chilly for Scandinavia; very warm southern Europe


Saturday
Low pressure centred over the British Isles brings strong winds to north-western Europe, gales around the English Channel. A cold front sweeps south-east across France, bringing some heavy rain for a time, followed by showers in the north & west. Rain clears from Belgium and the Netherlands, spreading east to Germany and Denmark. A zone of cloud and patchy rain passes south across Iberia, but southern Spain and Portugal should stay dry and warm, 25C. Dry and sunny for Italy, but isolated showers may affect Sicily. Dry and warm for south-eastern Europe with light winds. Chance of local fog patches. Drizzly rain for Poland and the Baltic states, which moves into western Ukraine. Rain for southern Norway, with brisk south-easterly winds. Dry and bright for northern Scandinavia beneath high pressure, but chilly, highs of just 5C in Finland, and frosty overnight.


Sunday
An area of low pressure develops over northern Italy, bringing heavy rain which spreads into Croatia and Slovenia. Rain across the Alpine countries will turn increasingly to snow over the mountains. Brisk Mistral winds for southern France. A cold front moves south across Italy during the day, with showery rain, which also affects the islands of the western Mediterranean. Cool and showery for France and the Low Countries, around 12C. Cool too for northern Spain, although Andalucia and the Algarve stay very warm at 25C or above. Fair weather for Greece and areas west of the Black Sea. A front brings rain to Poland and the Czech Republic, also southern parts of Norway & Sweden. Much of Germany may escape dry, but scattered showers may spread from the west. Dry and cool for northern Scandinavia.
